Serving the Living Lord....Past, Present and Future
September brings the start of the UMW activities for 2012/2013. All women are invited to join us. The first meeting of the year was Thursday, Sept. 19 in the Fellowship Hall. The purpose of UMW is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of missions through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Our officers this year are:
President: Alisha Cooley
Vice-president: Sally Jaynes
Treasurer: Cindy Miller
Secretary: Emilie LaRoux
Three salad luncheons are held in the fall to raise monies to meet our annual pledge to the Missions of the Detroit District UMW. Luncheons were scheduled for Sept. 13 and Oct. 11. October 11 was also the date of the Eve Circle's book sale. We are also planning our final fall salad luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012.
Another mission is to prepare a funeral luncheon whenever the need arises. A third mission is to make available copies of the Upper Room for all persons in our congregation. These are found in the entrance way to the fellowship hall and are free for the taking.
Save the date of Sunday, December 2, at 3:00 p.m. for our Advent Tea. See Alisha or Emilie if you would like to host a table.
Come join us, and remember, Women in Mission are Commuicators of Love in Action!
